Why should we do topic-specific unconferences?

I often hear people saying "we should have BarCampOrlando more often", or "BarCamp should have more rooms running at once". My argument is that this is a distributed event, and if you want to get more out of it, you should have more vertical discussions instead of trying to make the event bigger. In doing so, we'll actually grow the audience in unexpected ways. Discuss. BATT
